FAQs: ChoicePro Discontinuation

Why is ChoicePro being discontinued?

We have made the difficult decision to discontinue a number of BookingSuite products, including ChoicePro, and RateIntelligence.

After 7 years of being a preferred vendor to drive direct bookings for Choice hotels we are ending our business agreement. Therefore, the cooperation between Choice Hotels and BookingSuite as a certified vendor will be stopped.

When will ChoicePro be discontinued?

ChoicePro will be discontinued on 30 November 2020.

Will I still be charged for ChoicePro?

Yes. Your monthly subscription fee will continue until 30 November 2020, or until the date your ChoicePro contract is cancelled by you beforehand.

Can I use my existing custom domain name for a new website?

If your website has a custom domain name, it would have been registered either by you directly or by BookingSuite, and can be used for any website outside of the ChoicePro platform. Once your new website is ready in a new platform, you will have to update your domain name’s DNS records accordingly. If you need support with this, please contact your domain name provider directly.

I don’t know who my domain name provider is. How can I find this out?

Please go to who.is or icann.org, insert your website address, and check under ‘Registrar Info’ who your domain name owner is. Check this article for more information: How to identify my domain name provider

BookingSuite registered a domain name for me. How can I request a domain name transfer from BookingSuite?

If BookingSuite is the owner of your custom domain name, you should have received an email with a domain name transfer code (otherwise known as EPP code). This unique code will allow you to claim ownership of your domain name.

Are there any costs for the domain name transfer?

BookingSuite will not charge any costs for the domain name transfer. However, you will be responsible for any costs associated with the new hosting and the renewal of the domain name subscription when it expires. For specific details, please reach out to your preferred domain name provider directly.

How will my current website’s Google ranking and SEO be affected if I have to work with a new website provider?

While search engine ranking is influenced by hundreds of possible variables, moving a website to another platform could cause a drop in ranking temporarily, which is why it’s recommended that 301 redirects are done on your new website. A 301 redirect tells search engines that a page from your old website should go to the corresponding page on your new website. Your new website provider can help you out with this process.
